It's that time of year again... this year we have two 4th year pharmacy students with us; Sherrie and Rachel. They are quite helpful as we are trying to integrate into the Primary Care Team in Maple Creek. In December I was hired by Cypress Health Region to work as a Primary Health Care Pharmacist one day a week in Leader (which I have been doing for the past 18 months) and one day a week in Maple Creek.
I am now only working Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the pharmacy; luckily we hired Tiffany, a pharmacy technician, in September so Gord has lots of help.
January 18-24 is National Quit Smoking week. January 13 I started a group support/education group that follows the PACT (Partnership to Assist with the Cessation of Tobacco) philosophy. Our first meeting we had 12 participants and I expect aleast 4 more next week. This is a 10 week program so I will keep you advised of our progress.
The PAS (Pharmacist's Association of Saskatchewan) is holding their annual provincial conference May 1 in Saskatoon. I have been asked to speak about our INR monitoring program and my PACT group sessions.
Watch for our PPI project from last year to be posted soon.
